You live in the tri state area about an hour from NYC. You are moving 1,000 miles away to Memphis before the summer ends. Probably never to return to the east coast for a good number of years. What would YOU do? Car related...non car related...almost anything goes. Let me hear it.
Ive never felt a sense of sudden urgency than I do now. This is going to be weird moving to a state so different. Putting my whole way of life (persay) and shaking it up. Dont get me wrong, im pretty excited about moving south. I love the heat, the people, the lifestyle, and nearly everything i hear about life down there.
Instead of quitting my job, which i was fully ready to do, i gave them limited availability. They are gonna be SOL when i actually leave because its amazing how much I tie up their loose ends. I almost feel bad for leaving them. Sorry, im venting here.
Ive also begin to speak my mind more. Theres no time like the present to tell people stuff youve always wanted to say to them. However, im still debating whether or not to tell my manager she is smokin hot.... Haha. You guys can vote on that....
In all seriousness. Its hard to think about where to begin. I have to accept i cant do it all. And only now do I realize its almost like i wasted time in my past. But i guess we all do. Do i regret it? Not really, i guess. Life goes on, and its never a good thing to dwell on the past.
All I know is I get a new start. Which is kinda cool at my age. Finishing up at a college to be determined, it might be refreshing to change things up a bit. Even though I know, without a doubt, Ill miss everything (nearly haha) I am moving away from. But thats life. Moving on I guess. Sorry if i sound cliche. This whole thing cliche.
I just had to write some of this out. Helps me think a bit. And im never stop thinking these days because of this impending move. Good Night oppo. Time to cool off and watch some more Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

First off, let's say, I wouldn't move to the south. But that is me, not you. About 6 years ago I moved 1800 miles by myself. Packed up what I wanted in my car and just drive. Got rid of everything else. I don't regret it for a second, and I had a decent life back home. I just needed a change, something that fit me better. It was tough for a few months, but you will meet new people and make a new life. Tell her before it's too late and you regret it, but because she's a co-worker, be careful about how you do it.

I hope you have a plan before landing in Memphis. That city was my home and my home of record while off in the service. But they haven't caught up with the times. Jobs are few and far between. If you have a great skillset and education they will still try to undercut you and badmouth you to competitors if you reject shitty offers. Just moved to Nashville and my whole world opened up.

I second the idea of moving to Nashville rather than Memphis. Nashville is so much more with the times. Memphis, unless you have a reason to go there, is not a town you just pick to settle in. I say this as a Tennessean living in Nashville and that grew up in west TN.
Either way, good luck.

Great fricking photos to accompany your...what was it you were talking about again?
Just being me. Remember, in this day. everything you say, especially in a work environment, will follow you forever. Be careful how you do the "compliment".
I moved across the country with no job, 2 credit cards to tide me over and never looked back. Did OK until circumstances beyond my control caused a change in my life, (Obamacare). But that is life. I saw it coming and adjusted and am still adjusting.

The food, music, and hospitality round there are wonderful. Have fun and be sure to wander around Beale Street if you like BBQ and Blues.

Well, im still living with my family since i was able to commute to the local college to get an associates. Im gonna finish up school somewhere down there, so Arkansas, Missouri, Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama are all states with college options for me. I really have no choice in the city. Believe me, memphis wasnt my families first choice, but my dads job brought him there. And Id rather move down there and possibly start a life on my own in a more affordable part of the county. Dont tell me is feasible to live on your own in NJ (at rate below 10 bucks and hour) without scraping by paycheck to paycheck. Its not worth it. Nor do i ever, or would ever want to live in NJ for the rest of my life. This state... Im glad im leaving the state.

See my reply to Saldana. Its not really a choice. Its a turn of events that have lead to this opportunity.
I should also mention, we will be living in the memphis area. Not the actual city of memphis.

I figured if people were gonna read it, ill give them some well thought out eye candy.
yeah, i do take that into consideration. It not like a professional job or anything, just a retail job, but still professionalism is a standard ive come take on even in a meager job. I must say it actually has paid off. It was more of statement that id rather say here than actually say in person.
We are all still adjusting in a way. Glad it worked okay for you. My condolences for the obamacare... Im not gonna start on that... Life is interesting. Thats for sure.

Something I've always wanted to do was visit a " dark sky " area. It's amazing to see the Milky Way and since we live in an area with so much light pollution it is virtually impossible. Cherry Spring State Park in PA is supposed to be the best in Tri-state area.

I was hesitant to post this for that reason, haha. Out west is where it's at though. Still remember the first time I saw the true night sky.
young agrajag:"What's that?"
friends dad:"That's the Milky Way."
ya: ... ... "Bull shit."

I cant say ive truly seen the milky way.
Ive been up all the way to Addison Maine, and the sky up there was incredible. You could see the satellites move across the sky. But never did see the milky way...

Pretty much this.
The Andromeda galaxy is actually visible to the human eye as well. Though that is more of moon sized blob in the sky.

Sell everything except the clothes on your back and buy a 33 Stradale!
No, in all seriousness it sounds like a great life plan! Change it up! Thats what kids these days (myself included) are doing. I just put in my 1 month notice at both of my jobs and am moving 1000-ish miles south as well, from Tacoma, WA to Wine Country, CA (Sonoma, Paso Robles, Russian River Valley, Santa Barbara etc... Not sure exactly where yet)
So yah, just go and if you're not happy go somewhere else. Follow your passions and do something you love, even if its hard.

Nice! CA seems like a pretty awesome place, geographically wise. Id love to go visit there someday. Which may be an actual option since ill be living in the middle of the country as opposed to the east coast. Good luck man! Enjoy it! Very few times in life do we get clean slates. Im hoping ive learned from my past mistakes to make most of this new open door.
Thanks.
And id give up ALL the clothes off my back for that Stradale.. Clothes would only get in the way of driving that voluptuous machine.
